Oh, Muse please grant to me
To tell of cruelest fate
About the bloody battle
To you I will relate
T'was such a awful carnage
The conflict did betray
Not single whole battalion
Escaped that fatal day
The order soon was given
We marched with quickest speed
Three hundred gallant fighting men
With sergeants in the lead
Through bushes, thorns and brambles
Our men they did advance
To break the mighty power plant
They gave a sporting chance
They were in the valley far below
When charged on with the steel
And every tree and rocky face
The enemy concealed
From every side were overwhelmed
Exertion was in vain
The blood did run in steady streams
Engulfing all the plain
"Forward men!" the sergeant yelled
Before he was cut down
He fell amongst his comrades there
Who laid upon the ground
The slaughter great was everywhere
In the valley and the field
But earnest soldiers loudly cried
That they would never yield
Commander Zan with valiant strength
Was bitter in the fray
He swore an oath to fight them on
And make them rue the day!
He saw his men break from the ranks
His heart with grief did quell
For he was wounded every-time
A noble Irken fell
'Retreat' did sound on every lip
And caused such great dismay
Of three hundred gallant fighting men
But twelve escaped that day
We toast to all those honest men
On that day they did deplore
Who saw the sun sink so very low
But saw it rise no more
