Literature Text

T'was on a sunny day,
In the middle of July,
When a dark and stormy twister
Came from out the sky!
And it blew, blew, blew
With a great and mighty roar,
And it ripped, ripped, ripped
The hinge right off the door!

It's riding, riding, upon a southern wind!
Wherever, wherever, this force of nature whims!
And it's gone, gone, gone
And I am left to moan,
For that gale, gale, gale
Has took away my home!

I had me a sweetheart,
A girl I love so true,
Who was caught upon the prairie
When the southern breezes blew
So that a whisk, whisk, whisk
Has left me sad and sore
For when I gazed, gazed, gazed
My love was there no more!

She's riding, riding, upon a southern wind!
Wherever, wherever, this force of nature whims!
Now she's gone, gone, gone
And I'm left sad and sore,
For my love, love, love
Has left me here forlorn!

So maybe you'll find me
Upon a lonely road
Chasing those twisters
Where the southern breezes blow
For when they come, come, come
I know I'm sure to find
My dearest love, love, love
Who left me here behind

I'm riding, riding upon a southern wind
Wherever, wherever, this force of nature whims
And I'll grieve, grieve, grieve
For it's taken house and barn!
And I'll not yield, yield, yield
Till my true love's in my arms!
A poem dedicated to a good friend of mine....

I could see this literally translated into an illustrated kids' book and exaggerated to make a whimsical little story. That is, if you weren't to take it seriously.
