Literature Text

Upon your portrait I do gaze,
In these sad and lonely days;
For you are still as dear to me.
Where, oh where, could you be?

Darling, darling, of my heart,
Long it's been since we did part.
When I count the nights and days;
Forty weeks you've been away.

Far across the stormy seas,
Does my love still wait for me?
Has she found another beau?
This, I'm sure I'll never know.

Whatever fate before me lays,
This I'll suffer, but I'll say:
Still, my heart is fixed and true
Life's not living without you.

If upon some happy day,
We should meet across the way;
On that far and distant shore,
I will leave you nevermore.
Painting by Vincent van Gogh.

Dedicated to Nora, who I have not spoken to for forty weeks now (hence the title).

No, I don't think I've been quite THAT long, but it sure feels that way with how many backed-up notifications I've got! :iconpinkiehpie:

Beautiful poem, by the way. :iconfluttershywinkplz:
