Literature Text

Until the bone and flesh be hacked away
Yield I not that burning love for thee
So is my soul, forever fixed stays
Come wind or rain, I shall not mercy plea

For love is not the lauded thing of knights
Though the violet hue of life may darken
Never obscured we into gentle night
For by stars does love so often harken

You as moon and I as sun are fated
Twixt the sky are we ordained another
Though kinder be that which is elated
As the barbs of time consume the other

Let us not from our loving ever part
So grows we fond, so grows the tender heart
